  1. Sisterhood/Team Building AKA What you can do to build some awesome bonds with Kara and Laurel

  2. What we’re going to do! • Activity Time: Blind Building Blocks • The Whos and Whats of Teambuilding • Activity Time: Facsimile • Sister Bonding Activities • Discussion Time!

  3. Blind Building Blocks • Get in Groups! • What we’re going to do: • Pick one person as the leader • We have a secret sculpture that only the group leaders can see. • She then guides you through recreating the sculpture, but she can’t touch the blocks

  4. Teambuilding Who (runs these activities)? Pick a point person such as an advisor or a sister who is approachable and doesn’t mind leading the activities What (do I need to do these activities)? Most activities require very little or no materials Most of the materials can be found at home What can’t be found at home can usually be purchased at minimal cost

  5. Teambuilding • When (should you do these activities)? • Whenever you want! • Make a day of it and do a ton of them at once • Do them weekly or monthly • Do them if your meeting is less than 45 minutes long

  6. Teambuilding Where (can we do these things)? Do things in a neutral location Think about rooms on campus, go outside, use the chapter house (if you’re lucky enough to have one) or wherever you hold meeting Some activities require more space so plan around how much elbow room you’re going to need

  7. Teambuilding • Why (do we want to do this)? • It helps strengthen the chapter • There may still be cliques and BFF pairs but as a whole the chapter will become more cohesive • We are human so there will still be drama, but by creating an environment where people feel more comfortable working together, the group will be better at working through it in a positive manner

  8. Teambuilding How (do we get started)? Use the packet! These are some easy-to-do activities for you to take back and get started Feel free to contact us with questions or if you want more suggestions We have plenty – we’ve done this for four years now Also the internet is your friend. There are tons online!

  9. Facsimile • Get into a new group! • What we’re going to do: • Line up facing the back of the person in front of you • The person at the end of the line will be shown a picture • They will trace it on the back of the person in front of them • The person in the front then draws it on a piece of paper

  10. Sister Bonding Activities • Sweetener Talks • Random pairings to get to know each other again • Co-op sisters and new members are always a good way to start • Sweetlings • Another random pairing, but instead of only meeting up, do something nice for them • Think arts & crafts, send encouraging notes, or meet up for coffee

  11. Sister Bonding Activities • Sweet Things • Anonymous notes to your sisters telling them what you love about them • Dig Deep! • Think more about their character than if they always have cute shoes • In order to get your Sweet Things you have to write one for every other active sister • Can be packaged in fun ways • Don’t forget about the Penguin Pass!

  12. Discussion Time! • What are some activities you have done? • What are some of the issues that you have when it comes to teambuilding and sister bonding activities? • Groups are too large • Not enough time in the semester • Etc.

  13. Questions, Concerns, Outrage? Want more ideas for team building? (Some are better if only the person leading them knows the rules.) Feel free to contact us! Kara Belcher karambelcher@gmail.com Laurel McHugh Laurel.McHugh@gmail.com
