  2. Objective of this presentation This presentation shows how electronic data is captured to provide a digital alternative to recording Engine Logs on paper. There are three illustrations of reporting the data in a spreadsheet. There is no limit to the options for reporting – all comments will be considered.

  3. The requirement of the Electronic Engine Log • A vessel may wish to capture and store data for: • Legal/Insurance purposes • Internal and external audits • Technical management • Condition monitoring of Equipment • Performance data • Operational data/watchkeeping handovers

  4. Technology • Hand held PDA’s linked with contact memory tags – eTags provide an electronic link between the equipment/space and the database. • The systems are available both as non-IS or Intrinsically Safe, rated Zone Zero. • ePen and Smart Paper provide for written comments

  5. Handheld Reader and E-Tags

  6. INTRINSICALLY SAFE e-TAG READER Certification Level SIRA – UK Standard Zone 0 (Hazardous characteristics present continuously or for longer than 1000 hours) (available from Q3 05)

  7. E-Tag Programs – Assetrac Automatic task management & data gathering for the maintenance of assets.

  27. Handwritten comments in the Engine Log • Provision is made to electronically capture handwritten comments by using Datatrac’s ePen and Smart Paper technology. • This provides an exact replication of all handwritten input – drawings, signatures and comments. • Together these technologies provide the electronic alternative to a paper log.

  28. Summary This technology eliminates typing and manual manipulation of data:- • Saves time • Eliminates Paper document storage • Improves accuracy • Supports Sea Staff by easing the data capture processes • Provides electronic data for export ashore

  29. Datatrac Marine Clients • Dobsons Fleet Management • Northern Marine Management • Royal Fleet Auxiliary • Stena Ferries • Technip Offshore
