  3. What is a planet? A large object that moves around a star.

  4. What are the outer planets? Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune & Pluto

  5. What is a star? Burning sphere of gases

  6. What is Mercury? Closest planet to the sun. It is rocky and full of craters.

  7. What is an axis? Imaginary line that Earth rotates around

  8. What is a telescope? Instrument used to observe a distant object

  9. What is an orbit? Path an object takes when revolving around another object

  10. What are the inner planets? Mercury, Venus, Earth, & Mars

  11. What is revolution? Movement of Earth around the sun

  12. What is Saturn? I am known for my beautiful rings made up of bits of ice and rock that revolve around the planet.

  13. What is a meteor? An ASTEROID BECOMES THIS WHEN IT ENTERS THE EARTH’S ATMOSPHERE. Also known as a shooting star.

  14. What is Uranus? I AM THE 7TH PLANET FROM THE SUN. I am called the sideways planet.

  15. What is rotation? Spinning movement of the Earth

  16. What is Neptune? I am more than 2 billion miles from earth. It is the last planet.

  17. What is a comet? Small mass of ice and dust that orbits the sun

  18. What is Venus? I am the hottest planet. The surface of me is covered with thick clouds that trap heat.

  19. What are the gas giants? Name for the outer planets, except for Pluto

  20. What is the moon? The object that orbits around the Earth

  21. What is Mars? I am the 4th planet from the sun. I am known as the red planet.

  22. What is Jupiter? The largest planet. This planet has two red spots.

  23. What is the Sun? The STAR AT THE CENTER OF OUR SOLAR SYSTEM

  24. What is an asteroid? Objects in a “belt” between Mars & Jupiter

  25. What is Earth? The only planet known to produce oxygen. Also known as the “water planet”

  26. What are phases? Changes in the apparent shape of the moon
