A process by which one individual, the coach, creates structured, focused interaction and uses appropriate strategies, tools, and techniques to promote desirable & sustainable change for the benefit of the learner & organization • Coaching is a process, not an event, just as learning is a process that requires “repetition, time, application and reflection.” Mink, 1993

  4. Tenets of Coaching • Most successful when voluntary • Enrollment • Flourishes when it is separated from supervision/performance evaluation • It is an ongoing process • It is based on collaborative relationship • Requires atmosphere of trust and experimentation
