  3. The New EYFSP 1 – Emerging (a broad measure) 2 – Expected 3 – Exceeding (new Year 1 input) National Good Level Development = those expected+ in PSED, CL&L, Maths and PD (12 ELGs)

  4. LA summary • GLD 55.1% (regional ranges from 45% - 57%) • Average GLD point score is 2.30 • Highest % ELGS – Physical development, communication & language and PSED • Lowest % ELGs – Writing and Numbers

  5. Key Findings • Maths is more challenging (included in GLD)! • Writing and number are lowest in many schools (child scoring 1 in these ELGs would not be included in GLD) • Physical development, PSED and technology continue to do well • 3 children excluded from data • Vulnerable group data – SEN, FSM, Gender, EAL (LAC) • Boys are doing less well than girls except in technology • National provisional is 52% (2012 - 64%) • Statistical neighbour – GLD 45% (2012 – 67%)

Group Data • FSM significant differences in attainment – Literacy, Maths and Communication/Language • FSM least significant differences – Art & Design, Physical Development • EAL – non EAL differences are small in all ELGs. Largest difference in UTW and EAD C&L - Non EAL 2.06 APS, EAL 2.04 APS PSED - Non EAL 2.04 APS, EAL 2.04 APS

  9. Challenges • Developing writing to raise attainment • Enhancing maths planning/assessment • Continued focus on communication & language to impact on literacy • Focus on the teaching of EAL children in the early years • Investigate boy’s results further

  13. CPD and support • 3 members in the EYFS team • CPD includes termly training for new staff, EYFS for senior leaders, Year 1, learning support staff, statutory moderation • EYFS Annual Conference 24 October • In-school advice & support • Cluster networking • Lead Teacher support

Proposed Changes !!! • A possible revision to the ‘new’ EYFS • The EYFS Profile to become non-statutory • An on-entry baseline assessment to be reintroduced nationally at the start of the year • 2 year old offer to be available to schools (progress check) • New EYFS Outcomes document Sept. 2013 • The new primary curriculum and how this builds on EYFS
