  2. Zeus(Jupiter) • Zeus is the supreme king of the gods • He is the god of thunder, lightning, and kings. He rules the land and the sky

  3. Hera(Juno) • She is the sister and wife of Zeus • Queen of the gods • She is the goddess of marriage • Women were said to worship Hera the most

  4. Hades(Pluto) • He rules over the underworld. • Hades is the god of death • To us he is known as the devil who resides in hell.

  5. Persephone(Persipina) • Daughter of Demeter. • Wife of Hades. • Goddess of spring and of the dead. • She spends half a year with Hades, which is fall and winter. • The rest of the year she is with her mother, which is spring and summer.

  6. Hestia(Vesta) • Hestia is the goddess of the hearth and the home

  7. Poseidon(Neptune) • Poseidon is the Greek god of the sea and oceans. • He rules under the waves and is said to sometimes help sailors or drown them. • His roman name is Neptune.

  8. Demeter(Ceres) • Demeter is the goddess of grain, wheat, corn, and all growing things. • She is the mother of Persephone, goddess of spring.

  9. Hephestus(Vulcan) • He is the god of blacksmithing, metal, and crafts. • He is the husband of Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty. • His helpers were the Cyclops.

  10. Aphrodite(Venus) • She is the goddess of love and beauty. • Wife of Hephaestus. • Mother of Eros.

  11. Artemis(Diana) • Goddess of the hunt, wildlife, and the moon by which silvery light she often hunted. • Daughter of Zeus and Leto. • Twin of Apollo.

  12. Apollo • Son of Zeus and Leto. • Twin brother of Artemis. • God of music, light, prophecy, and healing.

  13. Leto(Latona) • A titan goddess daughter of Coes and Phoebe. • Mother of Artemis and Apollo. • Goddess of modesty.

  14. Dionysus(Bacchus) • God of wine and merriment. • He is the son of Zeus and the mortal Semele.

  15. Hermes(Mercury) • Messenger of the gods. • Son of Zeus and Mia. • God of thieves and traveling.

  16. Eros(Cupid) • God of love, lust, desire, and longing. • Son of Aphrodite. • His roman name is Cupid

  17. Ares(Mars) • God of war. • Son of Zeus and Hera. • Lover of Aphrodite.

  18. Eris(Discordia) • Goddess of discord, contention, and rivalry. • She is either the daughter of Erebos and Nyx or Zeus and Hera(where she is the sister of Ares).

  19. Pan(Faunus) • God of herds and shepherds. • Often shown with being a goat from the waist down and human from the waist up, with horns on his head.

  20. Nymphs • There were said to be beautiful women that lived in the trees and rivers they were known as nymphs. • They appear in many Greek stories, by being pursued or being punished by the gods. • Also they were companions of the gods.

  21. Echo • Young nymph who could never shut up. So Hera took away her so, that she could only repeat what others said.

  22. Callisto • A follower of Artemis that was persuaded to abandon her vows to be loyal to her innocence and became involved with Zeus. Hera, turned her into a bear and called upon Artemis to kill her. • But Zeus was quick to turn her in to the constellation big bear and the baby she gave birth to was little bear, that can be seen today.

  23. Daphne • Nymph who was pursued by Apollo but fled and prayed to Zeus to help her escape, so she was turned into a laurel tree. • The leaves of the laurel tree are used to crown winners in games.

  24. Satyrs • Satyrs are the followers and servants of Pan and Dionysus. • They were said to enjoy music, dancing, and drinking wine.

  25. Helios(Sol) • The sun god. • Son of Hyperion and Thea and brother of Eos and Selene. • Who drives his fiery chariot across the sky everyday as the sun.

  26. Selene(Luna) • The moon goddess that illuminates the earth at night. • Daughter of Hyperion and Thea. • Sister of Helios and Eos.

  27. Eos(Dawn) • She is the Dawn before the sun, who opens her crimson gates so the sun can make his everyday journey across the sky. • She is the sister of Helios and Selene.

  28. Iris • Goddess of the rainbow. • Handmaiden and personal messenger of Hera. • Daughter of Thaumas, the marine god and Elektra, a cloud nymph.

  29. Nike(Victoria) • Goddess of victory. • Companion of Athena.

  30. The Nine Muses • The nine daughters of Zeus and Mnesmosyne. • They each have a type of art that they attribute to.

  31. Calliope • The muse of epic poetry.

  32. Clio • The muse of history

  33. Erato • The muse of love poetry.

  34. Euterpe • The muse of music.

  35. Melpomene • The muse of tragedy.

  36. Polyhymnia • The muse of sacred poetry.

  37. Terpsichore • The muse of dance.

  38. Thalia • The muse of comedy.
