  5. Story of Chaos At the beginning of time, Chaos was a primeval state of existence. Chaos was the emptiness, a dark, silent and infinite void of nothing with no trace of life. Gaia, mother earth, was the first to appear from Chaos. She created mountains, rivers, lakes, seas and low lands. Then came Tartarus, the underworld, who built his home under the world of Gaia. Eros came last. Eros was love, was the most handsome of all the Greek gods and was invincible. Chaos then gave birth to Nyx, the night, and Erebus, dark silence. They united and made Aither, the atmosphere, and Hemera the day. Family Tree of Chaos and The Other Gods
