The Free Throw • B is Balance. • Balance yourself at the free throw line. • Keep your feet shoulder width apart and parallel to one another • Point both feet and square your upper body toward the basket. • Position your feet behind the line one of your foot feet back an inch or two what ever feels comfortable. • Common Errors • Feet to wide or close together • Shoulders not square to goal

The Free Throw • E is Elbows in. • Hold the ball by using non shooting hand to support and cradle it lightly. • With the shooting hand place the hand in the middle of the ball. • Hold the ball with both hands keep forearm at about a 95 degree angle and at chest level. • Avoid putting the ball down near the side of the body. • Avoid dropping the ball below your waste. • Common Errors • Elbow are outside of body • Placement of hands

  5. The Free Throw • E is Eye on hoop. • Aim at back of the basket • Bend your knees slightly • Bring the ball up to the eye level • Avoid bringing the ball too low or high above the eye sight • Avoid bending too much with the knees. • Common Errors • Can see basket • Ball to far over your head

The Free Throw • F is Follow through. • Bending at the knees. • Releasing the ball slightly when standing (slightly lifting your heal off the ground). • Bring the ball up to the eye level at 90 degrees above eye level • Release the ball with snap of the wrist and your finger tips for back spin. • Leave your hand in the follow through position ( in the cookie jar) as your reaching for the rim. • Common Errors • Shooting with both hands • Not snapping wrist to create backspin
