  21. Beginning in January 2012, Developmental Math courses will ditch the “chalk and talk” for a new and improved way of teaching- Island TIME: Transition Into Math Excellence. Students will benefit from a personalized learning experience that combines face-to-face instruction with easy-to-use technology. The goals of FKCC’s new program are to ensure students successfully complete developmental math courses, and are then prepared and confident for the next step toward a bright future. Student Centered Technology- Assisted Tutoring Services Student Success Center Island TIME courses will take place in the new, state-of-the-art Student Success Center. Students will attend class in one portion of the Student Success Center, and then complete coursework in the adjoining computer lad. The Student Success Center is located in TWFAC 2402 and 2403, above the Ceramics lab. Just follow the green arrows. Island TIME: Transition Into Math Excellence

All students must have test scores on file that are less than 2 years old (ACT, SAT, or PERT) • Listed are the scores that will place a student at college level for the ACT and SAT: ACT: English= 17, Reading= 18, Math= 21 SAT: Verbal= 440, Math= 480 • Transfer students must have transcripts from ALL colleges attended on file and evaluated. The Postsecondary Educational Readiness Test (PERT) will determine if your academic skills are currently at college level in reading, writing, and math. • Your scores may indicate that you need a some additional academic review to bring your skills up to college level in a particular area. Meaning that all students who place in prep courses will need to take them within their first semester. • Only three attempts permitted for any course (withdrawals count).
