  1. Basics of Digital Video Broadcasting DVB is an abbreviation of Digital Video Broadcasting. DVB is also known as digital television. As the name suggests, it is a standard for digital television and video that can be used in several parts of the world. Different types of digital video broadcasting standards cover satellite, cable, and terrestrial television along with the audio as well as video coding for file formats like MPEG. Since its inception in the year 1990, digital video broadcasting has been adopted all over Europe and in several areas of Africa, Latin America, and other parts of the world. Some countries like the United States use a different type of standard that is known as the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee). Both DVB and ATSC display a group of electronics as well as telecom companies that help to set up standards for visual broadcasting via digital technology.

  2. The product of the DVB project, digital video broadcasting involves several companies along with other parties, including regulators and broadcasters. Several groups join the pan-European adoption of DVB standards to have a consistent standard for new digital video technologies along with customer or commercial services. Its standards also cover several aspects of digital video that are implemented in various ways as per the broadcast medium and other aspects. It is important to note that some of the standards are developed by drawing on pre-existing ISO/EIC standards. Some factors of digital video broadcasting are patented as per their general use and value. Let’s take a look at some forms of DVB DVB-C: It delivers video service via cable networks. DVB-H: It delivers services via handheld devices, including mobile phones, etc. DVB-RSC: It provides satellite DVB services via a return channel for interactivity. DVB-S: The standard is used for the delivery of the television / video from a satellite. DVB-SH: It delivers DVB services from a satellite to handheld devices. DVB-S2: The second generation of DVB satellite broadcasting. DVB-T: It delivers services via Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting. With digital video broadcasting used in several countries, it has become one of the common standards for broadcasting. Several types of developments have been made beyond the first DVB standards that were introduced, and now new facilities and high level of performance have been achieved.
