Station Profile Tiny Burger Weekdays 5a-10a After an earnest effort to graduate from college, Tiny decided to leave the frozen tundra of Upstate NY and walk the earth, kind of like Cain in Kung Fu, until he found himself in South Florida. It was there Tiny found what he felt is his true calling - morning radio... Legend has it that Tiny's nickname originated from his abnormally small pinky toe - others believe it has something to do with his fondness for cheeseburgers and pizzas at 3 am. Actually, he is always fighting the battle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As an avid golfer, he shoots par whenever he plays. Even if it’s only 13 or 14 holes. Known as the man about town, Tiny likes working in the community and has teamed up with organizations like The Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, The American Red Cross along with several local pet shelters. He and his wife Taryn have 2 dogs. A miniature Australian Shepherd named Molly and a Papillion named Jet, yes named after the horrible NY football team. kfdi.com
Station Profile Carol Hughes Weekdays 10a-3p As the "parent" of a rescue dog, Buddy, and a cat, Bob, Carol Hughes is very involved with various animal rescue groups. She has worked with a number of local rescue organizations and started "All For The Paws", a benefit concert for the Kansas Humane Society, that raised more than $20K for the Humane Society the first year. Carol keeps busy with other charities as well. For almost 20 years she has worked with Positive Directions, a local organization that helps people with HIV/AIDS, and has helped them raise $1.5 million dollars through an annual event she helps coordinate. She has also worked with The Tallgrass Film Festival, The Alzheimer's Association and The American Cancer Society just to name a few organizations. She is a big part of the local theater community as a playwright for Mosley Street Melodrama. Carol writes two original plays each year and the productions run for seven weeks each - with more than 3,000 people going to see each show. Carol joined the KFDI team in December, 1999 and loves sharing her passion for country music with the listeners. She's interviewed everyone from Reba to Jason Aldean and each year goes to Nashville to cover the County Music Awards (CMAs) and interviews more than 70 artists over a two-day period. Carol Hughes covers the midday show on KFDI, so you can hear her every day from 10-3 and is also the music director as well as the assistant program director. kfdi.com
Station Profile Bobby Knight Weekdays 3p-8p Not only has radio taken me to some fun and beautiful parts of the country but so did my life BR... Before Radio. I was born in New York City and moved to upstate NY when I was about 3. (And by upstate I mean 60 miles north of the city). In April before my senior year of high school my family took a trip to Las Vegas and then in July my parents announced we were moving to Vegas Baby. Hindsight, we should have coined that phrase before Vince Vaughn. I attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas during their Championship run in 1990 which was a blast to be around. Then the jobs started… Sears furniture stock and paint department (First Job); Footlocker (where my boss at the time told me to "escape retail" and try banking); Bank Teller; managing restaurants; sports retail. These took up the years from 1987 to 1996. Then while managing a sports retail store in early 1996 I called a local Top 40 radio station to request Vanilla Ice "Ice Ice Baby" because I was a cool boss. I offered the DJ a discount at my store for playing the song. He put me on the air which I thought was so neat. Then about 2 weeks later he came in to introduce himself. I asked "how do you get into radio?" and the career started. I started part time at that Top 40 station in Las Vegas. Moved to Savannah, GA for one year for my first full time. Next stop was Des Moines, IA and then Fort Dodge, IA. I moved back in July 2013 to Manhattan, KS. And now I'm very proud to call Wichita HOME. Most Proud Accomplishment: My beautiful daughter was born in November 1997. Being a daddy is my favorite thing I've ever been. kfdi.com
Station Profile Justin Case Weekdays 8p-12a Justin started in radio at age 15 at his home town station in Decatur, IN. "I love Country Music and the listeners who love Country Music." Justin's worked in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Birmingham, Hartford and had top rated shows in Buffalo and Springfield, MA. "I've been lucky to work all over the US with some terrific people... none better than here at KFDI!" Justin was named one of the “Top 20 Country Programmers” in 2012 by Radio Ink Magazine and one of the “Best Programmers in America,” again by Radio Ink, in 2008. Justin and his wife live in Andover, KS. Roxanne Stuart Weekends Roxanne Stuart has been in radio since the mid 70's and has worked in Country Radio since the '80s... Transplanted from Los Angeles in 2001 Roxx has taken root here in Kansas, living on a small farm with her husband, a ton of chickens (technical chicken term) three horses and four cats. She plants more tomatoes than six people could possibly eat every season and LOVES Country Music. "Working in Country Radio has been one of the best things I've had the opportunity to do. Everyone is so nice!" She says one of the best experiences of her life is walking through the front door at KFDI knowing she'll be going on the air yet again! Roxanne is on the air on KFDI every Saturday and Sun from 6 to midnight, and fills in whenever and wherever she's needed. kfdi.com
