  3. Persecuted Hope • Rome Caught Fire While Nero Was Emperor (A.D. 64). • Some Believe Nero Set The Fire Himself, But This Has Not Been Proven. • Nero Blamed Christians For The Fire, But The Persecution Did Not Remain In Rome. • Some Believe Peter Wrote This Letter Just After Rome Caught Fire.
