  3. Bellringer • What causes winds? Winds are caused by the unequal heating of the Earth’s surface, which causes pressure differences. • If you open the valve on a bicycle tube, what happens? Why?

  4. Bellringer • If you open the valve on a bicycle tube, what happens? Why? The air rushes out. The air inside the tube is at a higher pressure than the air is outside the tube. Letting air out of the tube creates wind.
