  3. The Stomach primary channel connects with the following zangfu: Stomach and Spleen.

  4. THE STOMACH LUO-CONNECTING CHANNEL • originates on the lateral side of the lower leg at ST-40, • travels to the medial aspect of the lower leg to join with the Spleen channel, • ascends to the nape of the neck where it converges with the other yang channels, • then travels internally to terminate at the throat.

  5. THE STOMACH DIVERGENT CHANNEL • branches from the primary channel in the thigh, • ascends and enters the abdomen, • travels to the Stomach and disperses in the Spleen, • ascends to penetrate the Heart, • ascends along the esophagus and emerges at the mouth, • continues along the nose to connect with the eye and then unites with the primary Stomach channel.

The primary ACTIONS and INDICATIONS of the points of the Stomach channel can be summarized as: • treating all disorders of the yangming channel in the head including the eyes, face and cheeks, forehead, nose, lips, gums and teeth. • treating disorders of the throat. • regulating the function of the stomach and intestines.

  7. treating disorders of the Stomach, Spleen, epigastrium, chest, uterus; some points also affect the Lung, Heart, and Bladder. • tonifying qi, blood, yin and yang. • treating both acute and chronic disorders of the breast. • treating disturbance of the spirit, especially mania-depression.

  8. CHENGQI ST-1** • ACTIONS: Benefits the eyes and stops lacrimation, eliminates wind and clears heat • INDICATIONS: All eye problems: redness, swelling and pain of the eye, tearing, night blindness, twitching of the eyelids; facial paralysis. • ST-1 is one of the two most important local point for the eyes (the other being UB-1).

  9. SIBAI ST-2** • ACTIONS: Eliminates wind, clears heat and benefits the eyes • INDICATIONS: Redness, pain and itching of the eye, facial paralysis, twitching of the eyelids, pain in the face. • Can use as a substitute for ST-1

  10. JULIAO ST-3** • ACTIONS: Eliminates wind, dissipates swelling and alleviates pain • INDICATIONS: Facial paralysis, twitching of the eyelids, nosebleed, sinus pain, toothache, swelling of the lips and cheek.

  11. DICANG ST-4** • ACTIONS: Eliminates wind from the face, activates the channel and alleviates pain • INDICATIONS: Deviation of the mouth, salivation, trigeminal neuralgia, twitching of eyelids.

  12. DAYlNG ST-5** • ACTIONS: Eliminates wind and reduces swelling • INDICATIONS: Facial paralysis, tetany, swelling of the cheek, pain in the face, toothache of the lower jaw.

  13. JIACHE ST-6** • Sun Si-miao Ghost point • ACTIONS: Eliminates wind and benefits the jaw and teeth, activates the channel, alleviates pain • INDICATIONS: Facial paralysis, toothache, swelling of the cheek and face, mumps, tetany. • One of two main local points for jaw problems

XIAGUAN ST-7** • ACTIONS: Benefits the ears, jaw and teeth, activates the channel and alleviates pain • INDICATIONS: Deafness, tinnitus, ear pain, itching and purulent discharge from the ear, toothache, TMJ syndrome, facial paralysis, facial pain, motor impairment of the jaw. • One of the two main local points for Jaw problems (along with ST-6)

  15. TOUWEI ST-8** • ACTIONS: Eliminates wind and alleviates pain, benefits the eyes • INDICATIONS: Headache, dizziness, blurring of vision, eye pain, tearing. • An important point to treat headaches and dizziness.

  16. RENYlNG ST-9** • Point of the Window of Heaven • Point of the Sea of Qi • ACTIONS: Regulates qi and blood and lowers rebellion, benefits the throat and neck, alleviates pain • INDICATIONS: Sore throat, asthma, goiter, dizziness, flushing of the face, hypertension, hypotension.

  17. SHUITU ST-10* • ACTIONS: Benefits the throat and neck, descends Lung qi • INDICATIONS: Sore throat, asthma, cough, goiter. • EAV uses to measure thyroid functioning; not much used in TCM.

  18. QISHE ST-11* • ACTIONS: Benefits the throat and neck and descends qi • INDICATIONS: Sore throat, pain and rigidity of the neck, asthma, hiccup, goiter. • Not much used in TCM. • JA: Phrenic nerve reflex; EAV: measures thymus functioning

QUEPEN ST-12** • Meeting point of ST, LI, SI, SJ & GB channels • ACTIONS: Descends Lung qi and clears heat from the chest, activates the channel and alleviates pain • INDICATIONS: Cough, asthma, sore throat, pain in the supraclavicular fossa, pain and motor impairment of arm. • Note: according to several classical sources this point is contra-indicated in pregnancy.

  20. QIHU ST-13* • ACTIONS: Descends rebellious qi and unbinds the chest • INDICATIONS: Fullness in the chest, asthma, cough, hiccup, pain in the chest and hypochondrium, stiffness of the neck with inability to turn the head.

  21. KUFANG ST-14* • ACTIONS: Descends rebellious qi and unbinds the chest • INDICATIONS: Sensation of fullness and pain in the chest, cough.

  22. WUYI ST-15* • ACTIONS: Descends rebellious qi and unbinds the chest, benefits the breasts, alleviates pain and itching of the skin • INDICATIONS: Fullness and pain in the chest and costal region, cough, asthma, generalised itching, mastitis.

  23. YINGCHUANG ST-16* • ACTIONS: Alleviates cough and wheezing, benefits the breasts • INDICATIONS: Fullness and pain in the chest and hypochondrium, cough, asthma, mastitis.

  24. RUZHONG ST-17 • This point is contraindicated to both needling and moxibustion, and is used simply as a reference point.

  25. RUGEN ST-18** • ACTIONS: Benefits the breasts and reduces swelling, unbinds the chest and alleviates cough and wheezing • INDICATIONS: Mastitis, chest pain, cough, asthma, insufficient lactation, difficult labor.

  26. BURONG ST-19* • ACTIONS: harmonizes the middle jiao and lowers rebellion, descends qi and alleviates cough and wheezing • INDICATIONS: Abdominal distention, vomiting, epigastric pain, poor appetite.

  27. CHENGMAN ST-20* • ACTIONS: harmonizes the middle jiao, descends rebellion of the Lung and Stomach • INDICATIONS: Epigastric pain, abdominal distention, vomiting, poor appetite, difficult breathing.

  28. LIANGMEN ST-21*** • ACTIONS: Regulates qi and alleviates pain, harmonizes the middle jiao and transforms stagnation, raises the qi and stops diarrhea • INDICATIONS: Epigastric pain, vomiting, poor appetite, ab distention, diarrhea. • Mainly for acute excess stomach problems (such as LR -> ST). • JA: Stomach (L) / duodenal (R) ulcer reflex

  29. GUANMEN ST-22* • ACTIONS: Regulates qi and alleviates pain, regulates the intestines, benefits urination • INDICATIONS: Abdominal distention and pain, poor appetite, borborygmus, diarrhea, edema.

  30. TAIYI ST-23* • ACTIONS: Transforms phlegm, calms the spirit, harmonizes the middle jiao • INDICATIONS: Epigastric pain, irritability, mania, indigestion.

  31. HUAROUMEN ST-24* • ACTIONS: Transforms phlegm, calms the spirit, harmonizes the Stomach, stops vomiting • INDICATIONS: Epigastric pain, vomiting, mania.

  32. TIANSHU ST-25**** • Front-Mu point of the Large Intestine • ACTIONS • Regulates the intestines • Regulates the Spleen and Stomach • Resolves dampness and damp-heat • Regulates qi & blood and eliminates stagnation

  33. INDICATIONS: • LI/SP/ST: Constipation, diarrhea, dysentery, abdominal pain & distension, borborygmus, periumbilical pain • Qi & Blood stagnation: Irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, abdominal masses in women, • Damp: Edema, urinary dysfunction.

  34. WAILlNG ST-26* • ACTIONS: Regulates qi and alleviates pain • INDICATIONS: Abdominal pain, hernia, dysmenorrhea.

  35. DAJU ST-27** • ACTIONS: Benefits the Kidneys and firms essence, regulates qi and promotes urination • INDICATIONS: Lower ab distention, dysuria, hernia, seminal emission, premature ejaculation, fright.

  36. SHUIDAO ST-28*** • ACTIONS: Regulates the lower jiao and dispels stagnation, benefits the Bladder and the uterus • INDICATIONS: Damp stagnation & Blood stasis: Lower abdominal distension, retention of urine, edema, hernia, prostatitis, dysmenorrhea, uterine masses.

  37. GUILAI ST-29*** • ACTIONS: Warms the lower jiao, regulates menstruation and benefits the genital region • INDICATIONS: Retention of Cold in the uterus: Ab pain, ab masses hernia, dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, leukorrhea, prolapse of the uterus, infertility. • Also for GYN disorders d/t Kidney yang def

  38. QICHONG ST-30** • Meeting point of the ST channel with the Penetrating vessel • Point of the Sea of Water and Grain • ACTIONS: Regulates qi in the lower jiao, regulates the Penetrating vessel • INDICATIONS: Abdominal pain/cramping, hernia, swelling and pain of the external genitalia, impotence, dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, “Running Piglet”.

  39. BIGUAN ST-31* • ACTIONS: Activates the channel and alleviates pain, dispels wind-damp • INDICATIONS: Pain in the thigh, muscular atrophy, motor impairment, numbness and pain of the lower extremities.

  40. FUTU ST-32* • ACTIONS: Activates the channel and alleviates pain, dispels wind-damp • INDICATIONS: Pain in the lumbar and iliac region, cold knees, motor impairment and pain of the lower limbs, leg qi.

  41. YINSHI ST-33* • ACTIONS: Activates the channel and alleviates pain, Dispels wind-damp • INDICATIONS: Numbness, soreness, motor impairment of the lower limbs.

  42. LIANGQIU ST-34*** • Xi-Cleft point of the Stomach channel • ACTIONS: Activates the channel, harmonizes the Stomach, alleviates pain, moderates acute conditions • INDICATIONS: Epigastric pain, acid reflux, mastitis, swelling and pain of the knee, motor impairment of the lower limbs.

  43. DUBI ST-35* • ACTIONS: Dispels wind-damp, reduces swelling, activates the channel, alleviates pain • INDICATIONS: Pain, numbness and motor impairment of the knee, leg qi.

  44. ZUSANLI ST-36***** • He-Sea and Earth point of the Stomach channel • Gao Wu Command point • Ma Dan-yang Heavenly Star point • Point of the Sea of Water and Grain

  45. ACTIONS • Harmonizes the Stomach • Fortifies the Spleen and resolves dampness • Supports the correct qi and fosters original qi • Tonifies qi and nourishes blood and yin • Clears fire and calms the spirit • Activates the channel and alleviates pain • Revives the yang and restores consciousness

  46. Stomach: Epigastric pain, rebellious ST qi, ab distention/pain, poor appetite, difficult ingestion. • Spleen: Borborygmus, flatulence, diarrhea, cold in the intestines, leg qi, edema, heaviness of the four limbs, retention of urine. • Qi & Blood Deficiency: shortness of breath, inability to stand for long, dizziness, post-partum blood dizziness, dim vision, tinnitus, palpitations, prolapse.

  47. ST channel: Breast disorders, pain of the knee, thigh and shin, wind-stroke, hemiplegia, muscle pain, chronic painful obstruction. • Mania, depression, fright • Hypertension • “(With ST36) all diseases can be treated” - Qin Cheng-zu

  48. SHANGJUXU ST-37**** • Lower He-Sea point of the Large Intestine • Point of the Sea of Blood • ACTIONS: Regulates the intestines and transforms stagnation, clears damp heat, alleviates diarrhea and dysentery, regulates the Spleen and Stomach, activates the channel and alleviates pain

  49. INDICATIONS: • Intestinal disorders: diarrhea, dysentery, constipation, abdominal pain and distension, borborygmus, • Qi deficiency: shortness of breath, dyspnea • Leg problems: paralysis d/t stroke, difficulty walking or standing, leg qi.

  50. TIAOKOU ST-38*** • ACTIONS: Expels wind-damp and alleviates pain, benefits the shoulder • INDICATIONS: Frozen shoulder, pain or weakness of the lower limb. • Empirical for frozen shoulder
