  2. Why learn the Spanish alphabet? • Helps with pronunciation and spelling • Improves listening, speaking, reading, and writing (LSRW) skills • Similar, but not the same as the English alphabet

  3. Spanish speakers write their letters the same way that we do. • The only difference is the way they sound. • I will show you the pronunciation of the letters.

  5. B=bay Sometimes called bay grande

  6. C=say

  7. Ch=chay No longer a separate letter, but used in the song.

  8. D=day

  9. E=ay

  10. F=f-ay

  11. G=hay

  12. H=ah-chay

  13. I=ee

  14. J=ho-tah

  15. K=kah

  16. L=L.A.

  17. LL=ay-yay No longer a separate letter, but used in the song.

  19. N=N.A

  20. Ñ=N- ney

  21. O=oh

  22. P=pay

  23. Q=coo

  24. R=airay

  25. RR=air- ray

  34. Why are there extra letters? • The English alphabet has 26 letters whereas the Spanish alphabet has 30. The four extra letters are: • CH • LL • Ñ • RR • **Some letters can be confusing because they sound different in the Spanish alphabet. • E • I • H • Q • LL • V • RR
