Logica Sponsored Degree - Launched 2007 FdA + Top-up BA(Hons) – 3 Years Full time job with part time study – “earning while learning” Mapped progression combining a salary with a career upon graduation 30 credits Work Based Studies at levels 4 + 5 30 credits Logica delivered IT content at levels 4 + 5 UoW designed assessment

Increased role of Logica in the design, delivery and assessment of the programme Employer responsive provision/content Student-centred learning Business based problem/initiative Led by Senior Manager Influential Mentors committed to 3 years Integrated delivery strategy using web 2.0 technology Assessed – Student outcome to task plus reflections on learning

Business Impact Expectations and realities set from day 1 (grads do not always have a realistic view of a graduate job) More emphasis on: ethical behaviour, roles and responsibilities and use of Logica Artefacts Changing internal perceptions of undergraduate capability (problems obtaining initial assignments) Increased value of graduate (3 years experience) Flexible programme tailored to the business needs

Summary Logica Senior and Project Managers have added value Students are receiving a positive learning experience Students are being recognised for this work and it is seen as part of their personal development Mentors support the process but need support themselves Mentors to gain recognition for coaching and mentoring role
