ISACC Activities Overview: Advancements in ICT Standards from GSC-15 to GSC-16

ISACC Activities Since GSC-15 • ISACC 44th Plenary, November 4th 2010 on the theme ICT Standards for Smart Grids • ISACC 45th Plenary, May 5th 2011 on the theme Standards for ICT Accessibility • ISACC participation in World IPv6 Day on June 8th, 2011 • Planning and logistics to host GSC-16 in Halifax • 19 contributions for GSC-16

  3. 44th Plenary: ICT Standards for Smart Grids • ISACC recognizes the importance of standards for the use of ICTs in Smart Grids • ISACC members are participating in the CNC / IEC Task Force on Smart Grid Standards and NIST’s SGIP • ISACC is supportive of collaborative efforts among the GSC Members on Smart Grids Standards • ISACC has two Smart Grid contributions at GSC-16: • GSC16-PLEN-53 and -54 propose that Resolution GSC-15/29 (Smart Grids) be revised to recognize the importance of harmonized spectrum for Smart Grids

  4. 45th Plenary: Standards for ICT Accessibility • ISACC recognizes the importance of ICT Accessibility • ISACC members are very involved in ISO and ISO/IEC JTC 1 ICT Accessibility standardization • ISACC is investigating ICT Accessibility as a potential work item for the bi-lateral Canada-U.S. Regulatory Cooperation Council • ISACC has three contributions at GSC-16: • GSC16-PLEN-56 on Accessible Content in Digital Broadcast Environments; • GSC16-PLEN-57on ICT Accessibility Standardization; and • Draft Resolution GSC-16/27

ISACC Involvement inWorld IPv6 Day - June 8, 2011 • ISACC recognizes the need for service providers and content owners to adopt IPv6 • ISACC transitioned its website from IPv4 to dual-stacked IPv4 & IPv6 for “World IPv6 Day” on June 8th, 2011 • ISACC’s IPv6 deployment experiences and lessons learned are documented in: • http://www.isacc.ca/isacc/_doc/ArchivedPlenary/ISACC-11-45306.pdf; • and • GSC16-PLEN-50r1
