  9. “ChickaChicka Boom Boom” was absolutely my favorite book throughout my entire elementary school career. It was a very basic ABC book and filled with repetition. All of the alphabet went up the coconut tree. Suddenly the tree broke under the weight of the letters. All the battered lowercased letters were bandaged , kissed, and hugged by their uppercased mommas and poppas and uncles and aunts. I have no idea what drew me to this book. The illustrations aren’t that good and the story line is very basic. However, even today this book remains to be my favorite. Click here to return to “Early Works” slide My parents used to read me “Love You Forever” and they’d get all chocked up. When I was in elementary school, I’d never understand why parents would get so upset over a book, but now that I’m older, this had become one of my favorite books. It’s a wonderfully bittersweet short story.
