  2. WHAT IS TACHOMETER? • A tachometer is an instrument measuring the rotation speed of a shaft or disk, as in a motor or other machine. • The device usually displays the revolutions per minute (RPM) on a digital display.

  3. METHODS FOR MEASURING ROTATION SPEED • There are two methods for measuring rotation speed of a shaft by a tachometer. They are: • Contact Method. • Non Contact Method.

  4. CONTACT METHOD • In this method, we have contact the tachometer to the shaft of the motor to get its rotation speed.

  5. NON CONTACT METHOD • In this method, we do not need to contact the tachometer to the shaft. We just need to switch on the button of emitting laser. We need to hold the tachometer firmly in such a way so that the laser is put on the shaft. Then, we will get the rotation speed in RPM.
