Here is the timeline as we know it: • The evil dictator of Cuba, Fidel Castro, knows that the powerful USA is capable of invading and returning Cuba to its rightful, democratic state. • As Castro knows the Cuban people would welcome US intervention, he has asked Khrushchev to help keep the US out. • The Soviets forced the Cubans to place nuclear missiles in Cuba, 90 miles off the coast of Florida. • US spy planes on routine security checks spotted these missiles, in October of 1962. • To ensure US security, you have ordered a naval blockade of the island of Cuba.
