  2. Rug size~ • The typical prayer rug size is either 2.5” x 4” or 4” x 6”. (close to a meter).

  3. Prayer rug material~ • The material that is most commonly used is cotton or silk that is woven into a rectangular shape.

  4. The rugs purpose~ • The purpose of this rug is because the Muslims must pray on an area that is clean. The rug obviously shows cleanliness, and the top of the rug must point towards Mecca, where the religion was began.

  5. The rugs design~ • While some rugs are made in solid colors, they are usually adorned. The designs are often geometric, floral, arabesque, or depict Islamic landmarks such as the Ka'aba in Mecca or Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The side you have facing Mecca is the most decorated side. Symbols like this are on prayer rugs. They also put the big temple on temples on the side of the mat they face. The color green is also very important to Muslims.

  6. The rug’s layout~ • They are usually designed so that the rug has a definite "top" and "bottom" -- the bottom is where the worshipper stands, and the top points towards the direction of prayer.

  7. Their designs~ • The side you have facing Mecca is the most decorated side. Symbols like this are on prayer rugs. They also put the big temple on temples on the side of the mat they face. The color green is also very important to Muslims

  8. How to know you made it right~ • The way that you know you have a successful project is when you have a rectangle rug with designs such as the moon and star or any other Islam symbol.

  9. Other names for the rug~ • Janamaz • Sajada • Masjed

  10. Criteria • No gods are allowed to be on the prayer rug. The prayer rugs have to be a certain size. They have 2 types: the key hole rug and the kabba rug. The rug cant get dirty. You have to wash yourself before going on the prayer rug.
