General School Information • Students at Laval Junior follow a 9 day cycle with four 75 minute periods scheduled each day. • Students are required to remain on school property at all times during the school day. • Student are transported to school by Laval Transit (STL) special school buses. • LJHS has a dress code. The students are to wear solid white or red or black top and solid black bottoms. • At LJHS remediation is offered on a regular basis in all subject areas and we offer an after school homework club.   11. CONCENTRATION PROGRAMS In addition to the regular courses, we offer programs that focus, enhance and enrich the curriculum. These programs allow us to better meet your child’s individual needs and interests. Enriched Program: English/ Math / Français • These courses are designed for students that are both outstanding and consistent in Language Arts, and/or Math, and/or French; • Students may be accepted into one, two or all three of the Enriched classes ; • There are a limited number of spaces available per subject ; • Students require teacher recommendation for these courses and must write an entrance exam ; • There are no special fees for enriched English, French or Math.   13. French Immersion Program • 1/3 (12/36 periods) taught in French; • Geography, History and Ethics plus 6 periods of French; • There is no concentration fee for this program; • Teacher recommendation and an entrance exam are required. Laval Junior High School ● Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board

ATOMSScience and Technology/Math Concentration • Students will take their class in a new state of the art laboratory outfitted with the latest technology; • Video-conferencing room used to visit distant places and communicate with experts in their field; • Science Field Trips; • Teacher’s recommendation and a Science & Technology/ Math placement exam are required; • Special guest speakers; • An advanced science oriented curriculum.   16. Arts ConcentrationProgram: Visual Arts • Students have a total of 6 art periods per 9 day cycle • 120 art classes x 75 minutes over the school year • Art club • Art shows • Art field trips • Guest speakers • Concentration fee $200 Laval Junior High School ● Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board

Arts ConcentrationProgram: Music (band) • Students have a total of 6 music periods per 9 day cycle for a total of 120 music classes x 75 minutes over the school year; • School band with concerts; • Music field trips to the opera, MSO etc.; • Arundel Music Camp; • Concentration fee $200; • Our students have gone on to win national awards across Canada. Sports Concentration Program: Football • Students have 6 periods of football over a 9 day cycle for a total of 120 football classes x 75 minutes over the school year; • The LJHS football team plays both a fall and spring season; • The concentration teacher has a complete staff of coaches and assistants; • LJHS plays RESQ football • Concentration fee $300. Sports ConcentrationProgram: Soccer • Students have 6 periods of soccer over a 9 day cycle for a 120 soccer classes x 75 minutes over the school year; • Girls and boys after school soccer teams play GMAA fall soccer and sports étudiants Laval indoor soccer all winter and spring; • Intramural soccer every day at lunch; • Our teams, girls and boys, both went to the GMAA finals this year; • Concentration fee $300. Sports Concentration Program: Hockey • 6 periods of hockey over a 9 day cycle for 120 hockey classes x 75 minutes over the school year; • The school will have an ice hockey team and/or a competition ball hockey team; • After school ball hockey is available for everyone twice weekly; • Our team won the RESQ Laval ball hockey championship in 2012-13 and are on track to win again this year; • Concentration fee $300.
