Classroom • Attended classes arranged by the department as per training schedule. • 10 nos. of classes have been conducted till now. • Topics covered in these classes are – • Introduction to Oil India Limited • Electrical Engineering Department functions • Regulations • Safety management system • DPS-14.45MW/ DPS – 20.28 MW • Hazardous Area Classification • HT network/ LT network • Transformers

Feedback • A presentation is given after completion of training in a section every fortnight. • Four nos. of presentations were given till now. • The topics of the presentations were – • Kothaloni OCS & GCS • Lighting system in a ACSCR drilling rig • Starting system of 2*14.45 MW gas turbine and Emission Gas Analyser • NIA-MTDC power supply system

OIL INDIA LIMITED • Oil India Limited has a authorized capital of 2000crore and a paid up capital of 601.14crore. • During FY 2013-2014, Crude OIL Production – 3.409 MMT Natural Gas Production – 2718 MMSCM LPG Production – 43570 tonnes • Oil India Limited is producing about 10% of the total in-house crude oil production of India.

9. Role of Electrical Department • Oil India Limited has its own captive power generation facility along with transmission and distribution networks. • Electrical Department is responsible for providing reliable and quality power to all the installations. • Power is supplied to field operations, LPG plant, Industrial and Civic areas. • Services are provided to Drilling & Work-over rigs, Production installations, Industrial and Civic installations, Pipelines etc. across the organization.

11. Electrical Department • Electrical Department has 8(eight) sections – • Project • Rigs • Generation • Transmission & Distribution • SS • Field Operation & Maintenance • Planning & Administration • Electrical Workshop

Project • Project – • Field installations – Looks after all the projects related to field installations such as OCS, GCS etc. • Civic Installations – Looks after the projects in Duliajan oil township. • Cable – Maintain all LT & HT UG cables, cable fault location and cable related breakdown. • 95 + no of projects are currently under process.

15. Rig • Provide electrical services during operation (24X7) of drilling and work-over rigs. Oil India Limited has – • 9 drilling rigs • 14 workover rigs • 6 Charter hired drilling rigs • 6 Charter hired workover rigs • Provide electrical services during rig-up and rig-down. • Maintenance of rig electrical equipment in various rigs. • Provide security lighting services in drilling locations. • Provide services for safe movement of rig equipment.

Continued…. • Maintenance of air conditioning equipment in rig PCRs. • Provide electrical services for procurement of new rig equipment. • Procurement of spares for rig electrical equipment. • Provide services for charter hired rigs. • Rig electronics laboratory for calibration, testing of various electronics components/parts. • Rig workshop for overhauling of drilling motors, alternators etc.

17. Power House • Duliajan Power Station has two Westinghouse make W191G gas turbine generator units. • Power House has currently 2* 14.45 MW gas turbines. • 1st unit was commissioned on 8.5.1977 2nd unit was commissioned on 9.4.1977 • The generated power caters to following loads – • Field installations in & around Duliajan • LPG plant • Housing & Civic amenities OIL Township

21. Transmission & Distribution • Power is transmitted and distributed through the networks of Overhead lines. • The system has both H.T. and L.T. networks for distribution of power. • Within OIL township, power is distributed to places like RCE office, Bihutoli, R&D, Oil market, Zaloni club etc. • Currently, approximately 70 KMs of overhead lines are in use for power distribution.

22. Continued… • Maintenance of overhead lines, poles, street lights. • Installation and maintenance of dropout units. • During fault, restoration of power as early as possible to reduce down time.
