IMPORTANT EVENTS LEAD TO THE CLIMAX AND BUILD SUSPENSE THEME A LESSON ABOUT LIFE THAT THE STORY IS TELLING THE READER ABOUT LIFE. EXPOSITION RESOLUTION CHARACTERS, SETTING, PROBLEM ARE INTRODUCED WHAT HAPPENS AT THE VERY END OF THE STORY.

  3. 6. The king comes up with a plan to find the owner of the missing slipper. 5. Yeh-Shen is magically transformed and she attends the ball but in her haste to escape; loses a slipper. The king slips the shoe on Yeh-Shen and it fits! 4. The king sends and invitation to the festival but the Stepmother won’t all her to go. The king and Yeh-Shen marry and she now lives a life of royalty. 3. Yeh-Shen talks to the fishbonesfor comfort and advice. 2. The Sage appears and tells Yeh-Shen about the magical powers of the fish bones. 1. The Stepmother kills her beloved fish out of jealousy. The king will not allow her evil relatives to move into the castle. THEME Goodness is rewarded in the end. Problem: YehShen wants to live a happy life and attend the festivalbut her Stepmother won’t allow it. The Stepmother and Stepsister are crushed by falling stones in their cave.
