  3. Basic features • Initially built to manage WMO Publication No.47 metadata for European VOS (E-SURFMAR needed up-to-date metadata that WMO could not provide) • Extension to all VOS fleets in the world (fed with files officially submitted to WMO) • Flat files extracted and made freely available through FTP on a daily basis (no password required) • Met. Services may directly manage their VOS metadata thanks to the E-SURFMAR database. Updates may be done online or through the submission of files. Metadata may be exported (e.g. in XML) for WMO obligations • Accounts needed to create/modify metadata. More than 130 existing accounts (for PMOs and VOS focal points). Most of the accounts are linked to a national fleet. Allows to write metadata in this fleet and read (only) the metadata of the other fleets.

  4. Additional features • Handling of: • masked callsigns • pictures (uploaded) • inspection reports (uploaded) • ship contact details (company name, ship’s email…) • ancillary (or support) VOS fleet (pseudo country ZZ, vsslM = 80 or 85) • platforms and rigs metadata (not officially part of Pub47 – vsslM = 90 or 95) • Links to: • Marinetraffic.com and Fleetmon.com • E-SURFMAR monitoring tools and observation counters • Display of: • double recruitments • tracks of ships resulting from a query (15 most recent days) • Availability of numerous pre-defined queries • Subscription to monitoring reports
