Action plans • Training Needs Analysis- pan Ayrshire multi-agency • Improve access to sexual health information and services for vulnerable groups e.g. people with a learning disability • Sexual Health Nurse for LD post created within Sexual Health Department • Need for training for staff in relation to sexual health and LD identified, at various levels

  7. Action plans • Identified a multi-agency group • Discussions on the learning needs • Reflection on past achievements • LD and sexual health training development group formed • Developed tiered approach • Identified target groups

  8. Training Dissemination • All training included in NHS Ayrshire and Arran Sexual Health Training Brochure • Disseminated to all NHS Ayrshire and Arran staff, our 3 local Authority partners and other multi-agency partners across Ayrshire and Arran

Training Development 2 Day Sexuality, LD and Sexual Health Training COURSE AIMS • to increase awareness of personal values and attitudes and how these influence the way we communicate about sex and relationships, particularly in relation to individuals with learning disability. • to increase awareness of the impact of language on the way we communicate about sexual health.

Training Development 2 Day Sexuality, LD and Sexual Health Training COURSE AIMS • to have greater understanding of the barriers individuals with learning disability face with regards sexuality, relationships and sex and relationship education • to dispel myths and assumptions about the sexuality of learning disabled people

Training Development 2 Day Sexuality, LD and Sexual Health Training Learning Outcomes • be more aware of own sexual identity • be aware of own personal prejudices with regards to sexuality and how these may impact on others • be aware of current sexual vocabulary used to describe sexual organs and acts and the emotions attached to using such words

  17. Training Development 3 day Relationships, Sexual Health and Learning Disability Training for Trainers AIM To equip trainers with the knowledge, skills and resources to plan and deliver a programme of Sexual Health and Relationships education for people with Learning Disabilities

Training Development 3 day Relationships, Sexual Health and Learning Disability Training for Trainers Outcomes • Have raised awareness of the strategies and policies which are pertinent to Sexuality, Learning Disability and Sexual Health • Be able to identify appropriate participants • Be familiar with the Pre and Post Assessment Tools • Be familiar and comfortable with the course content and resource materials

  19. Training Development 3 day Relationships, Sexual Health and Learning Disability Training for Trainers Outcomes • Completed the allocated course work • Demonstrated an understanding of session planning • Prepared and delivered 1 session from the 30 week course

  20. Training statistics • ½ day Basic Awareness delivered to 39 multi-agency staff • 2 day Sexuality, LD and Sexual Health delivered to 65 multi-agency staff, parents and carers • 3 day Train the Trainers delivered to 9 multi-agency staff

  21. The Future • 2 day training on offer Ayrshire wide • Train the Trainers successfully piloted Ayrshire wide • Refinements made to Train the Trainers • Resource development ongoing with plans for professional printing • Training calendar in place for 2012 • Ongoing trainer support, focus groups and annual updates
