  3. Importance of Advertising • Promotion -  who, what, when, where and why. • Awareness – of unfamiliar issues • Comparisons – against competitors • Retention –staying public • Morale – positive and name recognition

  5. Ways to advertise. • Posters • Billboards • Newspapers • Television • Newspapers/Magazines • Leaflets and Pamphlets • Radio • Social Media • Internet sites • Clothing • Email

  6. Some key words used in advertising • Logo: a graphic representation or symbol of a  companyname • Slogan: adistinctive phrase, or motto of any, manufacturerit is a catchphrase • Target Audience: the specific group to which advertising is directed

  10. Objectives • To consider and implement ideas on creating an advertising poster for DALC. • To understand the concept of mind-maps

  11. Plan must include • Who you target audience is and why? • What would you like to emphasize about the centre? • Where would you put these posters? • What images would appear on these posters? • Slogans and use of Logos must be addressed • What colours would you use? • What text would be used?

Tips: • Think of what you were looking for when you decided to come to DALC • Think of what you have achieved by being here • Decide what emotions you would like to address the most • Try and portray the advantages of the centre • You could also design the poster for a DALC open day • Don’t forget contact details Use your mind maps 
