  10. The ”role” of Logimatic • There is a huge difference between theobjectives and thinking of L’loyds Registerand Logimatic ! • The “small” partner with the “practical” approach” • The partner with the “commercial” input • Think commercial from the start ! • How can you capitalise the results ? • Many of the partners does not have nocommercial thinking and/or background

  11. Agenda • Company profile for Logimatic • Participation in EU projects • Learning's • Possibilities and hesitations • Participation in FP6

  12. Learning’s • Necessary to set aside qualified resources to fulfil the requirements of the project • Some SMB companies might need different type of resources • Huge demands on documentation • All documentation must be made in “proper” English • Substantial travelling activities (50% out of pocket cost) • You might need to “fight” for your own interest.

  13. Learning’s • Sound combination between “studies” and “physical” results (products, SW prototypes, etc.) • Studies are have lower risk but are difficult to capitalise • Products have higher risk but can later be developed into a commercial product • Think commercial • How can you capitalise the result ?

  14. Documentation / Reporting • Project application • Huge job for all partners - especially for the project manager • Contract • Storyboards • R&D specifications, etc. • EU review • Final report • Financial review / audit

  16. Possibilities • Internationalisation - Expand thebusiness network in Europe • Learning different cultures makesyou prepared to do other internationalbusiness • Opportunity for qualified persons who need more challenge in their daily work • Relatively low risk for participation in innovative projects

  17. Hesitations • Requires heavy administration and punctual reporting • Are not suitable to drive commercial projects • To much co-ordination, bindings to other partners, official reviews, etc. • Requires highly qualified project management and reporting • EU founding as the only motivation does not justify participation • Don’t participate only for the money

  18. Agenda • Company profile for Logimatic • Participation in EU projects • Learning's • Possibilities and hesitations • Participation in FP6

  19. Participation in the FP6 • Is on the way - expect some delays • Look for good partners • The success depends very much on the other partners in the network • Find experienced and qualified partner for the project management • “Might require extra administration fee but they are worth it” • Consider outsourcing

  20. Participation in the FP6 • Select projects which fit into you core business / strategy plan • The projects are BIG => The consortia will be huge with many partners • Sub-networks will be formed • Use your business network • Express you interest
