Netbook Deployment Guide for RCSD Students

Congratulations on receiving your first-ever netbook deployment in RCSD! Follow these steps to get started: Turn on the computer and log in using your student ID and password, just like in the computer room. While the settings are being applied, learn about the features: battery-operated with 2-hour charge, mobile storage/charging station, wireless internet, and ability to run various applications. Access the internet, log into SchoolTown to start learning in your online classes, and join the assigned class group and complete the assignment. Enjoy your new learning tool!

  1. Congratulations! You are the first ever netbook deployment in RCSD!!

  2. What to do first? • Turn computer on • Log in using student ID and password (just like you would in the computer room) It will take a few minutes to apply your settings, so we will go over a few things while the computers do their thing ……

  3. Features • Battery-operated – charge lasts about 2 hours • Mobile storage/charging station used whenever students are not using them so they stay charged • Wireless internet • Can do pretty much all applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, see videos, sound, etc

  4. Are we ready? • Log onto internet! • Type in www.schooltown.net • This is the lesson environment you will be using to complete work in many classes.

  5. Click here to log in to the website

  6. Logging in to SchoolTown SchoolTown Login: 890######    (full RCSD student id) SchoolTownPassword: firstInitialLastInitial4DigitBirthYear (For example, Marlene Blocker’s password would be: mb1981)

  7. 1. Type username in this box 2. Type password in this box 3. Press Login button or simply hit Enter

  8. Joining the class 2. Click on Join A Group

  9. Joining the class 3. Type in the token number from your paper in the box. Do not put in any spaces – type it exactly as it appears on the paper. Then hit Continue.

  10. You should now be in the Living Environment Group 2 class! Click on the assignment for the Dichotomous Keys lab.
