  2. What is Hope? • Dictionary.com - To look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence. • Strong’s – elpis:Joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation.

  3. What is Hope? • Romans 8:24-25 - Hope involves two key elements: • something not seen • patience to obtain it

  4. What it’s Not • Desire alone – Ferrari, one million dollars, etc. • Expectation alone – Get sick, pay high taxes, etc.

  5. Hope is Based On • Promise – Genesis 3:15; Deuteronomy 18:15; 2 Samuel 7:12-17; Jeremiah 31:31; Isaiah 53 • Resurrection from the dead – Romans 3:23; Romans 5:3-8; 1 Corinthians 15:12-19

  6. Hope is a result of saving Faith • Hebrews 11:1 – • “Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen.” (ASV) • “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (KJV)

  7. Hope Is an Anchor • Hebrews 6:19- “which we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil …”

  8. Hope Has an End • 1 Corinthians 13 • That which is part will be done away. • Faith and Hope will disappear.

  9. Hope Is… • Raised from the dead – 1 Thessalonians 4:16 • Conformed to His image - 1 John 3:2 • Spend eternity in God’s presence – John 14:3 • Obtain heaven and all its glory – Colossians 1:5
