This is a major challenge as only less than 15% of the population in the developing nations of Asia and the Pacific have access to high-speed internet. In the least developed and landlocked countries inexpensive and reliable internet access is almost non- existent. Recent developments within the Asia-Pacific Information Superhighway initiative promise to increase the international bandwidth for developing countries in the region as well as lowering internet prices. Reliable, high capacity international fibre paths across all borders are necessary to achieve a healthy internet connectivity. 10.55am Chairman’s Welcome Address Abu Saeed Khan, Senior Policy Fellow, LIRNEasia
