Place Features that distinguish one place from another Human Characteristics *What are the people like? human activities and settlement patterns, language, clothing, ethnic background, religious beliefs, architectural styles, political and social institutions Physical Characteristics *What is it like there? climate, bodies of water, land forms, soils, natural vegetation, indigenous plants and animals

  4. Movement Mobility of people, goods, and ideas. *How did people, products, and ideas get from one place to another? *Why do they make these movements?

  5. Regions Areas on Earth that are defined by certain similar characteristics. Human Characteristics *What are the human attributes common to this area: dress, economic activity, history, etc. Physical Characteristics *What features set this place apart from other places: climate, land use, etc.

  6. Human Environmnet Interaction *How are people’s lives shaped by the place? * How has the place been shaped by people?
