  1. Evaluating Personal Resources, Capabilities, and Competitive Strength Assignment 4a Joseph Gamble

  2. My Professional Strategy Status • I have recently developed my own personal strategic plan and plan to integrate that into my premium website which positions myself and professional capability for potential employers to view. (joegamble.net) • I have also improved my competitiveness by deciding to learn more about database management and plan to pursue certification in SQL server. • My professional strategy seems to be working very well as indicated by the magnitude and frequency of progress that I am making in developing a comprehensive professional portfolio.

  3. Resource and Capability Analysis • My research skills enable me to have an above-average wealth resource to seek out the information that I may need on any given matter. • I am knowledge-capable of single-handedly delivering superior results in most of the metafunctions of IT – this includes hardware and software development, implementation and support, as well as consultation. • I know how to apply practical concepts to increase profitability and functionality by studying Business Management, so my technical skills are bolstered by my leadership/interpersonal expertise and experience.

  4. SWOT Analysis

  5. SWOT Conclusions & Proactive Actions • I have an exceptionally strong “strengths” category that give me a distinct competitive edge and knowledge synergy. • My weaknesses and threats can be overcome and nullified by properly developing micro-strategies to improve their position or making them nonfactors. These factors I would consider to be moderately disadvantageous. • Such actions would include expanding my professional network by going to IT conferences and being more socially active. Additionally, I need to better target my potential employers for the specific nuances for a job that I may be missing.

  6. Professional Qualifications and Salary Expectations • I would consider myself to be extremely qualified for an entry level position in practically any role for an IT consulting or solutions company due to my knowledge, experience, and degree qualifications for my age. • I have used the statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Labor to study the trends of national average annual earnings in 2010 to project my expected salary as an entry-level software developer and IT manager, which are around $67,000 and $115,000 respectively. I am adjusting for inflation and local market conditions. • I am prepared to take less money in order to provide a better value proposition my employer, and leverage my ability qualifications in hopes to be promoted to an IT manager within 5-7 years. • Best practices for my industry include project management, system lifecycle development, software, and operating system certifications to leverage as value.

  7. Competitive Strength Assessment This helps me to list industry key success factors and other relevant measures of competitive strength, and I can apply the same principles for my career

  8. Immediate Strategic Issues and Problems • Making sure to find job placement for this upcoming year upon graduation (extremely serious) • Acquiring SQL Server certification (semi-serious) • Rapid expansion of my professional network (serious) • Continued development of interview skills (moderately serious) • Packaging of self-published career applicable examples to present to prospective employers (moderately serious)
