Nereid THETIS – ancient goddess of the sea (daughter of NEREUS, son of GAIA and PONTUS), NOT a titaness. • Summoned BRIAREUS, one of the 100-handers. • Zeus had been one to free him from Tartarus • Untied all of knots • Freed Zeus • Bound Hera to sky • Only freed her after other gods promised never to rebel again.
