  4. Complex Infrastructure • Windows / Linux Environment • Passing files between the two operating systems • Multiple print queues – Windows / Linux • Network printers/Local printers • Multiple communications between multiple servers • Latency in printing offsite • Complex troubleshooting

Why Custom Forms? • Needed flexibility • Ability to add to other databases (businesses) • Import/Export utility • Needed alternative options for outputting the form • PDF Archive • PDF Email • Needed a sustainable solution • Support the document and changes without programmer time • Technology supported through QAD – maintenance contract

Archiving • We have a requirement to archive certain documents for historical purposes • Original Invoices • PO changes • Quotes and Confirmations • Created a batch to run the archives • Dependent on the update flag (Print Document) • Run the batch on a Windows Server, and a Windows scheduled task • PDF’s are all contained in the Linux server • Ensure you have enough space for designated documents • Ensure you have a plan when to archive off the archives (Business Rules)

  10. Save Filters • Click the “Save As” button • Give it a name • Next time you open it the filter will be applied

  11. Finding an Archive • Find the Archived PO/Invoice by description column • Prior we would have to look in Windows under a network drive.
