PhD Education at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences: Opportunities and Programs

The Graduate School SAFE offers comprehensive PhD education at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, focusing on core areas such as Animal Science, Plant & Soil Science, Horticulture, Food Science, Agroecology, and Biosystem Engineering. With approximately 200 PhD students enrolled annually, we welcome around 60-70 new students each year, including 45% international scholars from 33 countries. Our 3-year (180 ECTS) programs emphasize original research, supervised projects, coursework, and opportunities for teaching experience. Graduates find careers in academia, industry, or NGOs.

  4. PhD EDUCATION • 3 year program (180 ECTS) • Admission based on completed MSc • Most PhD students employed by the faculty • Industrial PhD program (the student is employed by a company) • 4+4 PhD program where the MSc is an integrated part
