What It Is • RecycleMania is an annual competition between colleges and universities across the U.S. and Canada as a way to encourage environmentally friendly habits. • In the 2012 competition, over 6.2 million students and staff participated from over 600 colleges, which collectively recycled 91 million pounds of materials. • The 2013 competition runs February 3 – March 30

  3. MSU’s Participation • Last year, MSU participated in three categories, taking places in the following: • 4thplace in the Gorilla Prize (most pounds recycle) • 3rdplace in the Electronics recycling (most e-waste recycled) • For 2013, MSU has two goals: • Collect over 100,000 pounds of electronics • Collect over 1 million pounds of paper, books, cardboard, plastic, metal and glass.

  5. Lunch and Open House • Attend the MSU Surplus Store and Recycling Center RecycleMania Lunch and Open House • Thursday, February 7 from 11am to 2pm, stay as long or as little as you like • Sign-up at www.bespartangreen.msu.edu/happenings

  6. RecycleMORE • Learn more about what can and cannot be recycled • All plastics, papers, metals • Basically, everything but Styrofoam and single use alkaline batteries (we’re working on it!) • http://recycle.msu.edu/information/faculty-staff/
