  2. What is a QR Code? • Quick Response Code. • A machine-readable code consisting of an array of black and white squares, typically used for storing URLs or other information. This code can be read by a device. • Where have you seen them? • Cups from fast food, water bottles, clothing, advertisement flyers, business cards, real estate flyers, restaurants, stores, movie posters…even tombstones!

  3. Why QR Codes in the Classroom? • Eliminate Frustration • Direct Route/Saves Time • Easy to Create and Use • Engages People • Changes Normal Routine • “Real World” • Personalized Learning • Sense of Mystery • Creative Way to Share Info

  7. I Don’t Have iPads in My Classroom! • Devices are coming for the elementary…iPads! • Allow students to BYOD. They can share or take turns. • Start off with ideas that include parents and community members. (interactive bulletin board, advertising school events, linking student work, promoting your class website etc.) • Some schools ask for donations from parents and community for old smartphones.

  8. What can I Create Today? • Create a QR Code to promote your class website and hang it outside your classroom. • Advertise a class/school event. • Have a bulletin board?
