Human Skin is an Organ!Largest organ in the body! • Protects underlying parts from physical trauma! • Protects against microbial invasion! • Protects against water loss! • Helps regulate Body Temperature! • Helps produce Vitamin D with the help of the sun! *good for teeth, eyes, bones, nails, immune system, helps with osteoporosis, diabetes, obesity • Helps us be aware of our surroundings!

  3. Note Addition: • Nervous: Neurons are imbedded through the skin allowing us to feel! • Immune: Skin is the first barrier against invaders! • Cardiovascular: blood vessels in skin to keep skin cells alive! • Excretory: releases waste products (salts, excess water)
