Lesson 13.5. Three Dimensional Graphing. What is 3 dimensional Graphing?. There are 3 axes that are mutually perpendicular. x-axis, y-axis & z-axis Ordered pairs are (x, y, z). Graph the point (2, 3, 5). Go 2 spaces in the positive x-direction, Then go 3 spaces in the positive y-direction.

  2. What is 3 dimensional Graphing? • There are 3 axes that are mutually perpendicular. • x-axis, y-axis & z-axis • Ordered pairs are (x, y, z)

  3. Graph the point (2, 3, 5). • Go 2 spaces in the positive x-direction, • Then go 3 spaces in the positive y-direction. • Lastly, go 5 spaces in the positive z-direction.

  4. Tips when graphing in 3-D… • Create a rectangular box to locate and visualize the point. • The sides of the box are drawn parallel to the axes. • Graph the point P (3, 4, 12)

  5. Graph the point A = (2, 5, 7) on a 3-D graph. A

  6. Theorem 126: • If P = (x1, y1, z1) and Q = (x2, y2, z2) are any two points, then the distance between them can be found with the formula:

  7. Find the distance from A = (2, 5, 7) to B = (3, -2, 4)
