How to Change ADSL Username and Password in your modem router Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin
Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. • Please click on [Setup] tab, and then click on [Wan Setup]:
Step 4. Scroll down to the WAN section of the page. In the Username field type in the username as given by your Internet Provider. In the Password field type in the password as given by your Internet Provider. Re-type your password in the Confirm Password field. Step 5. Click on the Apply button.
Step 6. Click on the Reboot button and wait until your modem router reboots and re-connects with the new username and password.
How to Change Wireless Channel in your modem router Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin
Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. Please click on Setup tab and then on Wireless 2.4G Setup.
Step 4. In the [WIRELESS SETTING] section of the page please find the “Channel” option. Click on the drop down menu to select a channel number between 1 and 13. (Please note that although channels 12-13 are allowed in Australia/NZ some of your devices may not detect Wi-Fi on these channels due to restrictions in US). PLEASE MAKE SURE CLICK ON [Apply] BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE TO SAVE THE SETTINGS.
How to Open Ports in your modem router firewall • Please note: It is recommended to set the device you are opening ports for (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, etc.) with a static IP address. Please see your device instructions on how to manually set an IP address. Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin
Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. Click on [ADVANCED] > [Virtual Server]:
Step 4. Tick the Enable Virtual Server Rules option and enter the rule details. We are using opening port for Remote Desktop service as an example: - Name: type in a name for this rule - Internal IP: type in the IP address of the device you are opening ports for (PC, Xbox, PlayStation, etc.) - Internal Start / End Port: the port / range of ports you are opening - External Start / End Port: the port / range of ports you are opening - Protocol Type: select “Both” of not sure .Click on APPLY when finished.
How to Enable Wi-Fi security in your modem router Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin
Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. Please click on Setup tab and then on Wireless 2.4G Setup.
Step 4. Scroll to the [WIRELESS SETTING] section of the page. Change the name of your Wi-Fi network to something you can easily recognize. Type your preferred wireless network name in the SSID / Network Name field. Step 5. Change the Security option to “WPA/WPA2”. Set Cipher Type to “TKIP+AES”. In the PSK String field type the Wi-Fi password you want to use. (All devices connecting to your Wi-Fi for the first time would have to enter this password)
Please make sure you click on the [APPLY] button at the bottom of the page to save the settings.
Step 6. Your modem router has two independent Wi-Fi radios (2.4GHz and 5GHz). Please make sure you set security on the second radio as well: SETUP > Wireless 5G Setup.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the Wireless 5G Setup. Please make sure you click on the [APPLY] button at the bottom of the page to save the settings.
How to Configure Your Modem Router Using Setup Wizard Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin
Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. The Setup Wizard will start automatically. If not you can start it under Setup tab. Click on the Setup Wizard button: Step 4. The Setup Wizard will display the steps required to configure your modem router. Click the Next button:
Step 5. Change the password that is used to access your modem router. Click the Next button. Step 6. Select your Time Zone. Click the Next button to continue:
Step 7. Enter your Internet Provider details: select Country and your Internet Provider. If your provider is not listed, select “Other”: Providers in Australia typically use these settings: Protocol: PPPoE; Connection Type: LLC; VPI: 8; VCI: 35 Providers in New Zealand typically use these settings: Protocol: PPPoA; Connection Type: VC-Mux; VPI: 0; VCI: 100
Step 8. Set your Internet connection. In the Username and Password field please type in your Internet account details as given by your Internet Service Provider. Click on the Next button. Step 9. Set the name for your wireless network. Type in names for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi networks, something that you can easily identify.
Step 10. Set the level of security you want to use on your wireless network. It is recommended to select the “Best” option (WPA2).
Step 11. Set the security password for both of your wireless networks. Take a note of this password as you will need to enter it into all your devices trying to connect to your Wi-Fi network for the first time. After you click on the Next button your modem router will apply the selected settings. The next steps are optional. If you wish to proceed with setting up mydlink Cloud Services – click on Next. Otherwise click on the Connect button. Your modem router’s Internet and Wireless configuration is now complete.
How to Setup Parental Control in your modem router Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin
Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. Please click on [ADVANCED] > [Parental Control] and set URL Blocking as Enabled.
Step 4. Now you can create website access rules. We are using an example rule which blocks access to Facebook.com web site at night time: - Tick the Active box - Set Access Rule as “Deny” - Give your rule a name (e.g. Block_Facebook) - Enter “facebook” into the URL Keyword field. This rule will block all web site addresses that have “facebook” in them. - MAC Address field – leave it blank if you want the rule to apply to all devices on your network. If you want to limit the rule to a certain device please enter this device’s MAC address (each network capable device has a unique MAC address (or addresses). - Set the Time option to “Enable” and specify the time period for the rule to be active. Please note that if you need the rule to work from 9:00pm to 6:00am, you need to make two rules – one for 21:00 to 23:59 and another one for 00:00 to 06:00. - Select the days that you want your rule to be active.
How to Setup Time and Date in your modem router Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. Click on [SETUP] > [Time and Date]
Step 4. Tick the [Auto Update] option under TIME SETTINGS section Select your Time Zone. Select your preferred time servers (NTP Servers) Step 5. Click on the [Apply] button at the bottom of the page to save your settings.
How to Update Firmware in your modem router • Please note: Firmware update should always be done from a computer connected directly to the router via an Ethernet cable. It should not be performed via a wireless connection. Step 1. Download the latest firmware file for your modem router. Visit support.dlink.com.au web site, choose your router model and select Downloads. Download the appropriate firmware file to any folder on your computer, as soon as you can easily locate it. Step 2. Open the folder where you saved the firmware file. The file may come in two possible formats: if you hover your mouse over the file and it is reported as “Compressed (zipped) Folder” – open the folder and Copy – Paste the file inside it to another location (e.g. your Desktop). If it is coming up as “BIN file” or other – you are ready to proceed to the next step. Step 3. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1.
Step 4. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin Step 5. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. Click on [MAINTENANCE] > [Firmware Update] then Click the [Choose File] button:
Step 6. Browse to and select the firmware file which you saved on your computer in Steps 1-2.
Your modem router will now begin to upload the firmware file. Please wait for the process to complete.
After finishing the upgrade your modem router will restart automatically and you will be prompted to re-login. You can verify the firmware version in the top right corner of the screen. Step 8. After firmware update it is recommended to reset modem router to factory defaults and re-configure it. Please make sure you have your Internet provider details (your username and password) ready. To reset the modem router select [MAINTENANCE] > [System Settings] and click on the “Restore Device” button. After resetting the router please re-login and re-configure your settings.
How to Verify and Enable NAT after using Web Configuration page Setup Wizard When using the “Setup Wizard” via the web configuration page to do the router setup, then NAT may not be enabled if using firmware version 1.01.14. As a result, Internet connection may not work unless NAT is enabled. Step 1. Login to the Web Configuration page of the router. To do that, open an Internet Browser and in the address bar, type in http://192.168.1.1 Note: The default username is admin and the password is admin as well. Click on the Login button.
Step 2. Select [WAN Service] from the left hand menu Step 3. Select [Account and Service Settings] from the second option in the middle of the page.
Step 4. If NAT status is showing [Disabled], you will need to click on [Edit] button to configure NAT option. Step 5. Select [Enable] under NAT and click on [Apply] button located at the bottom of the page to save the settings.
I Forgot My Wireless Security Password Step 1. Open your Internet Browser and in the address field type in http://192.168.1.1. Step 2. When prompted type in the Username and Password then click on the “Log In” button. If you have not changed the password for the modem administration, the factory settings are: Username: admin Password: admin
Step 3. After logging in you will be presented with the modem’s configuration pages. Please click on Setup tab and then on Wireless 2.4G Setup. Step 4. Note the SSID / Network Name. Is it the Wi-Fi network you are trying to connect to? Scroll down to the bottom of the page, to the WPA Settings section. Your password will be in the PSK String field:
Step 5. Your modem router has two independent Wi-Fi radios (2.4GHz and 5GHz). If you are trying to connect to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network, look under Wireless 5G Setup.
Note the SSID / Network Name. Is it the Wi-Fi network you are trying to connect to? Scroll down to the bottom of the page, to the WPA Settings section. Your password will be in the PSK String field:
