Manifest Destiny was the belief that it was America's God-given right to expand westward to the Pacific Ocean. Following the Revolutionary War, the United States embarked on significant territorial acquisitions, including the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, which doubled the nation's size. Key events include the annexation of Texas in 1845, the Oregon Country settlement in 1846, and the Mexican Cession in 1848. These expansions were driven by economic desires and military might, underscoring the dynamic history of America's growth from the original Thirteen Colonies to a continental power.
