  2. Venezuela is located in South America, near the equator. It is bordered by Colombia, Brazil and Guyana .

  3. The geographical features of Venezuela include the Andes mountains that stretch across the coast. Venezuela also has the llanos plains that spreads into the river delta of Orinoco, which is on the border of Colombia.

  4. Independence of Venezuela Venezuela declared its independence from Spain on July 5th 1811. It was one of the first countries to declare its independence from Spain in Latin America. The Venezuelan Republic was led by Simon Bolivar and Francisco de Miranda. Francisco de Miranda was a patriot who directed about 500 volunteers to start the revolution to gain independence.

  5. Simon Bolivar Simon bolivar was known for being a revolutionary leader and a military leader as well. He was first born in Caracas, which is the capital of Venezuela. He was almost 20 when he joined the revolution. Battle after battle, he had a strong winning streak. Eventually he was defeated by the royalist army. When he was exiled to Jamaica, he was victorious over the Spanish army. After his victory in Peru, it led to the end of the Spanish rule. He then became a powerful force in Latin America. As a Venezuelan General, he had his own dream of uniting Latin America.

  6. education In Venezuela, most schools are private. There are nine years of elementary school and two/three years of secondary school. Secondary schools are divided up into different cycles. The first cycle, which lasts four years educates the students with general scientific and humanistic education. The second cycle lasts about 2 years. It includes studying philosophy and literature, physics and mathematics, or biology. The total amount of years that a student must attend is about 15 years. After you complete both cycles, you are eligible for a high school diploma.

  7. holidays In 1492, Columbus discovered new land now referred as Venezuela. On October 12th, the Day of Indigenous Resistance is celebrated. It is also known as Christopher Columbus day.
