Mission Statement The Bendrigg Trust runs high quality courses for disabled and disadvantaged people. We aim to promote integration, encourage independence and build self- confidence through the use of residential experience and the safe provision of adventurous activities delivered by dedicated, qualified staff.
Aims and Objectives • Improve knowledge of Disabilities • To have an opportunity to work with disabled children in a fun environment • To gain experience working with children with complex needs.
My Role at Bendrigg Lodge • Taking part in all activities • Demonstrating activities such as pretending to fall off the climbing wall to reassure the children they will not fall to the ground!! • Making sure everyone was safe at all times • Most importantly, making sure everyone was happy and they had everything they needed whilst staying at Bendrigg

What I learnt at Bendrigg: No clinical skills BUT A tremendous amount about Disabilities/Conditions
Some of the Disabilities/Conditions I came across: • Asperger’s Syndrome • Autism • Behaviour Issues • Cerebral Palsy • Cri-Du- Chat Syndrome (Pussy Cat Syndrome) • Down Syndrome • Fragile X Syndrome • Global Development Delay • Learning Disabilities • Moya- Moya Epilepsy • Williams Syndrome
