Vocab • Cellular respiration- the oxidation of organic compounds to extract energy from chemical bonds. • Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide- a molecule that becomes reduced to NADH as it carries high energy electrons. • Aereobic respiration- the process that results in the complete oxidation of glucose. • Anaerobic respiration- The use of electron transport to generate a protein gradient. • Electron transport chain- the electrons are passed to another set of electron carriers. • Glycolysis- the initial breakdown of glucose. • ATP Synthase- An enzyme that synthesizes ATP.
