Explore the challenges and solutions related to SAC data and specimen models. Discuss the integration with RDF and NEESML models, as well as issues around data ingestion and central repositories.

SAC Data / Specimen Model • What do we do with the SAC data? How does this all fit with the new RDF direction? • General specimen is difficult - SAC shows this - see Kincho’s talk • However CAD files won’t be useful for simulation - things need to be parse able by code • What about hybrid mapping and extraction for search - is that enough? Not for simulations. • This remains an open issue. • What about NEESML?
Data Model • What is the relationship to ORST model? We spent a bunch of time looking at this and sending in feedback. • The current model work is derivative and informed by ORST mode • What about GeoTech? - JP is working on • We are using shake to “shake out the software” - other models under development
Discussion of Central Repo • Is it really infinite space - this needs a real discussion.. • We want a central repo (not federated) • How do we (or do we) decide what to archive
Discussion of DSAC Issues • Will there be tools to do automated publication from the central repository? • Discussion of data openness - DSAC has position • open very quickly (weeks/months - with exceptions) • Will produce report for comment at May meeting
Discussion of Data Ingestion • Local storage mechanisms - ad hoc • File naming conventions • Some simple tools (Texas) • Wide range of files per day (5 - 300) • Some use RDB for local repository • Make sure that mechanism can ingest centrally or locally
