  9. “No man will be without a homeland, as long as Salonica exists.” Thessaloniki was founded by Cassander, the king of Macedonia, in 315 BC. The new city took the name of his wife, who was the sister of Alexander the Great. It is located midway between the East and the West , at the intersection of cultures on the northwest corner of the Aegean Sea.

  11. The White Tower It is the landmark of Thessaloniki.  It was used as a fort and a prison but now it is open to the public as a museum.  The visitors can enjoy a panoramic view from its highest level.

Thessaloniki: An Open Air MuseumUNESCO World Heritage Religious Monuments Rotunda Saint Demetrius Saint Sophia It was founded in 4th century and it served both as a mosque and the Metropolis of Thessaloniki . It is both a church and cultural-archaeological monument. Saint Demetrius is the patron saint of Thessaloniki. His tomb is in a crypt in the church and he is said to have healing powers. The church is dedicated to Christ, the True Word and Wisdom of God. It was built in late 7th Century in imitation of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.

  19. Thessaloniki - A Gastronomic Paradise Koulouri, a traditional well-baked bread with lots of sesame. Panorama triangles, a well-known Greek desert. It is named after the location where it was first created (Panorama) Bougatsa, a sweet semolina pie, one of the most delicious meals you can enjoy in Greece. It is mainly eaten for breakfast, but it can be enjoyed at any given opportunity.
