  5. L: We struggle, hurt, and worry. That’s bad. P: And yet we are comforted and rescued. That’s good. L: Where does our help come from?

  6. P: Our help comes from the Lord God Almighty, who is our rock and refuge. ALL: Join us, O Lord, as we worship and praise you. Hear us as we praise your mighty deeds.

  7. *HYMN #220“All People that on Earth do Dwell” v.1 All people that on earth do dwell,Sing to the Lord with cheerful voice; Him serve with mirth, His praise forth tell, Come ye before Him and rejoice.

  11. *PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Holy and Merciful One, too often the stresses and the challenges of the day overwhelm us. In our distress, we forget to love one another;

  12. in our pain we lash out at others; in our sorrow we seek other gods to fill our emptiness and remove our pain. As our energy and patience wane,

  13. we give up on you and each other. Forgive us our shortcomings. Strengthen and comfort us. Restore us to wholeness and trust in you.

  14. (silence is observed for reflection and prayer)

  15. ASSURANCEOF PARDON L: God deals faithfully and truly with us. Choosing to forget our mistakes, and to forgive our sins, God blesses us with love and hope.

  16. P: Blessed, forgiven, healed– we are God’s new people, going out to bring others to the good news of life. Thanks be to God. Amen.

  19. PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING: Psalm 71:1-6,12-16

  20. In you, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me. Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me,for you are myrock and myfortress.

  21. Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel. For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O Lord, from my youth. Upon you I have leaned from my birth; it wasyou who took mefrom my mother’s womb.

  22. My praise is continually of you. O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! Let my accusers be put to shame and consumed; let those who seek to hurt me be covered with scorn anddisgrace.

  23. But I will hope continually, and will praise you yet more and more. My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all day long, though their number is past my knowledge.

  24. I will come praising the mighty deeds of the Lord God, I will praise your righteousness, yours alone.

  25. SCRIPTURE READING: Philippians 4:1-13

  26. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved. I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to be ofthe same mindin the Lord.

  27. Yes, and I ask you also, my loyal companion, help these women, for they have struggled beside me in the work of the gospel, together with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are in thebook of life.

  28. Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication withthanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

  29. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is

  30. whatever is Pure, Whatever is Pleasing, whatever is commendable,

  31. if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peacewill be with you.

  32. I rejoice in the Lord greatly that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned for me, but had no opportunity to show it. Not that I am referring to being in need; for I have learned to becontent withwhatever I have.

  33. I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and of beingin need.

  34. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!
