  1. Senior Moment… • The Missing Foot… • Matthew 5 records Jesus’ about removing the eye and hand. • Mark 9 records hand, foot, and eye. • Hand = Active Commission of Sin • Foot = Transportation to Sin • Eye = Temptation to Go to Sin • And…

  2. Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.

  3. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2

  4. What is “The World?” • Read 1 John 2:15-17 • V15: Anything substitute to your love of The Father. (Also Luke 14:26) • V16: “Everything in the world” • Cravings of sinful man. • Lust of his eyes. • Boasting of what he has and does. • V17: Temporary, Opposite God’s Will

  5. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:4

  6. Christ’s Glory • Read 1 John 3:1-3 • “BEHOLD what manner of love the Father hath bestowed on us.” • Sons, not subjects. • “What we will be has not yet been made known.” • “We shall be like Him.” • This hope yields purity.

  7. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Colossians 3:9-10

  8. Internal Honesty • The sins listed in verse 8 seem to have a general application. • Verse 9 seems to address honesty among believers and/or ourselves. • How do you interpret the application?

  9. Wardrobe Change • Verse 9: • “taken off your old self” • “put on the new self” • Verse 12: • “Clothe yourselves” • Revelation 3:14-22

  10. Hard-Core Equality • Compare Galatians 3:28 with Colossians 3:11… • What difference stands out between the two versions? • Scythians were savage, war-like nomads that had left images and memories of horror in their wake.

  11. Hard-Core Equality • We are reminded that there are no grounds for looking down upon any class or division in the Body of Christ. • Regarding anyone as inferior is counter to The Lord’s character and teaching. • i.e. washing the feet of the disciples

  12. Hard-Core Equality “Christ is all and is in all…” The ONLY supremacy we are to know is Christ.

  13. The Peace of Christ Verse 15 – What is the “peace of Christ?”

  14. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

  15. Foundation Stones • In verse 15: • We are encouraged to let the peace of Christ “rule our hearts” and that we were “called to peace.” • We are also told to be thankful. • What would the results be?

  16. Conclusion • What kind of Christian… • Recognizes his place in Christ… • Is effectively dead to sin… • Puts earthly nature to death… • Adheres to equality… • Has unflappable peace… • …and is steadfastly thankful?
