Personal Sermon. By: Chris Mosser. Stop the Madness. Don’t drink and Drive. All it takes is one drink. To end up in a fatal accident. There were 16,885 alcohol-related fatalities in 2006 – 39 percent of the total traffic fatalities for the year.

  3. All it takes is one drink

  4. To end up in a fatal accident

  5. There were 16,885 alcohol-related fatalities in 2006 – 39 percent of the total traffic fatalities for the year.

  6. The 16,885 fatalities in alcohol-related crashes during 2006 represent an averageof one alcohol-related fatality every 31 minutes. • An estimated 254,000 persons were injured in crashes where police reported that alcohol was present — an average of one person injured approximately every 2 minutes.

  7. Of the 16,885 people who died in alcohol-related crashes in 2006, 14,539 (86%) were killed in crashes where at least one driver or non-occupant had a BAC of .08 or higher.

  10. 44% of people who answered the survey said penalties should be much more severe. Then why are there still many DUI offenders still driving?

  11. The likelihood of crashing while under the influence.

  12. Drinking + driving = Death

  13. You may be able to lie to them

  14. But you can’t lie to them

  15. So why risk ending up here

  17. In 2006, 21 percent of the children age 14 and younger who were killed in motorvehicle crashes were killed in alcohol-related crashes.

  18. Another 48 children age 14 and younger who were killed in traffic crashes in 2006were pedestrians or pedalcyclists who were struck by drivers with BAC .01 or higher.
